Beyond Type 1 Website

Beyond Type 1 (BT1) is a global diabetes nonprofit dedicated to changing what it means to live with chronic illness. Following a major rebrand, BT1 partnered with our agency to modernize its flagship website. The existing site was a fragmented network of over 7,000 pages across multiple domains, with an outdated design and poor information architecture. As a result, users struggled to navigate the site, find relevant resources, and understand who BT1 was and what they offered.
I led the creative direction for the redesign, owning both the visual design and overall user experience. This included designing 14 scalable page templates that defined the site’s visual language and ensured consistency across the experience, balancing accessibility with a bold, human, mission-driven identity. I also collaborated with agency principals to shape content strategy and restructure the site to improve navigation, making it easier for users to find the information they needed. The result was a more cohesive digital experience with improved usability and a stronger connection to BT1’s mission.
Since launch, the work has been recognized as a Webby Awards Honoree and received both a San Diego One Award and a Sandie Award.
