A Beyond Type 1 Program

Beyond Type 1 came to us with an idea: a series of early detection events where people could get tested for diabetes antibodies in a way that felt approachable, social, and even uplifting. The challenge was to transform a traditionally clinical and intimidating process into something young people would actually want to attend.

I partnered with agency principals and a copywriter to develop the naming and positioning for Thrive Out Loud: A BT1 Early Detection Meetup. From there, I helped shape it into a distinct sub-brand that could stand apart while still living within the broader Beyond Type 1 identity. Visually, my approach focused on building a celebratory system designed for social engagement. I designed a flexible visual identity featuring a modular logo, a tagline stamp, and a dynamic pattern language that expresses energy and community. Photography was intentionally directed away from clinical environments to capture authentic moments of joy and movement, resulting in a bold platform that reframes early detection as an empowering experience.

This project was recognized with a San Diego One Club Award.
